Music in the Electronic age is more than the sum of the instruments in a band. Bands are unnecessary. Wind instruments are unnecessary. It's all sound manipulation of computer generated sound programs. Here is a neat chart my son found that shows the kinds of music produced today in the techno programmer age. It charts numerous musical forms I find hard to believe actually exist but apparently do. It's an interactive link. You can magnify points and get a sample of the sound.

I'm reminded of a saying a friend of mine used to live by, "What difference will it make to a naked lady riding on a white horse, fifty years from now?

        (Great chart, BTW.)

Taking the thread title superficially, a favourite of mine:

        Marcus Stockhausen

        Benge 3X
        Martin Committee
        Getzen Capri Cornet
        Adams F-1 Flugelhorn

"If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn."
        Charlie Parker

"Even if I could play like Wynton Marsalis, I wouldn't play like Wynton Marsalis."
        Chet Baker
