I toyed ( yeah toyed ) with water colors for almost 2 years in the late 50s. I did not put in the necessary work needed to improve. I had too many other things on the go at the time: playing trumpet with a busy little 5 piece band, writing fiction for some pulp mystery magazines, some amateur acting, fiddling around with photography, and forming a career in the publishing industry. The latter is the only thing I can truly say I was successful at.

Oh, yeah one other thing I was successful at, picking the right girl to share my life with.

Hey! That's true! I can't paint to save my life but according to society, I'm a scholar and smart. Wow, do I have society fooled because I've got so much more to learn before I can sit in the "smart section" where Dr-GO, my partner in musical crime legitimately sits.

I am still stunned by how beautiful those paintings are.

Some of them remind me of being on my grandparents' farm 60 years ago,
a time and place that I miss so much it moves me to tears.

So your paintings not only speak to my eyes,
they even speak to my heart.

I seriously thank you for blessing me with a few moments of wonderful memories that your paintings induce.

You're a blessed man. Not everyone can do this. Some art is so realistic that it looks like a photograph. You take splotches of paint and create something even better.

I entered this recent painting in my County Senior Art Show in the professional Acrylic painting category. It was awarded first place. Now it goes into the State exhibit. Two years ago my entry won first place in the entire state. We'll see how it goes this year. Hi BigDub,
This reminds me of the beginning of Fall in Appalachia. The smells, the sides of hills displaying more colors than can be imagined, a crispness in the air, WVU football, getting to class on time, cool weather coats, the swimming pools have been closed for a while, drinking stout beer by a camp fire, leaving the windows open at night since its cool. A general feel that Summer has expired.
All of this and more from splotches of paint! That's what great art does. It stirs more than the senses. It stirs the soul.
                                          Bravo!
