This painting won first place in Somerset County for Professional Acrylics. Also then went on to receive Honorable Mention for the State of NJ. Now hangs in my family room…….!IMG_2874.jpeg

Not trying to pass this off as an original, but I noticed that I never showed this "copy" I had done of my favorite western artist's painting, "A Dash For The Timber". I mainly did it to see if I could do it, and it will never be sold or passed off as an original by myself. That being said, I was pretty pleased with the result.IMG_1904.png
The original painting by Frederic Remington was 48”x89” ( I think )
Like a mural size. Mine is 10”x20” I might have been wiser to make it a little bigger for the details, but this is what I decided.

Last Sunday, beautiful sunny, warm day in my neck of the woods, wife and I took a drive into PA specifically for this barn. A long time favorite of mine in Solebury Township, Bucks County. There are so many stone buildings in Pa that I truly admire. Here is the finished piece.DSC_0412.jpeg

I seem to be in a productive stage this year. I have a clear idea of what I want to paint. This is not always a given, by the way. Just glad the juices are flowing. This one was from a photo I took, from the driver's seat of my Uncle's Buick. The passengers were quite panicked, but I assigned my uncle to hold the wheel so we were fine. The second picture is the photo I took those many years ago ( with a film camera, by the way). Then I decided to recreate it in a winter setting. Here are the picturesIMG_2962.png IMG_2929.png

You mean, the paint is flowing? 😄
I saw the photograph before I read your message and thought of John Baeder or somebody like that. Excellent!

High praise, there, mate, if I am right about who you are talking about in John Baeder! He’s actually a new favorite of mine. I definitely do not live in a vacuum. I learn from many other artists. It’s a matter of choosing what things I want to use and what I feel I should avoid. Thank you kindly, sir

I haven’t yet shown this one. A bit of a departure from my country type landscapes. I wanted to try a busy city scene. This is a street in Lisbon, Portugal.IMG_3282.png

Here is my most recent one. This is ten minutes from my home in NJ.
That’s right, NJ. The Church was started in 1752. In my area there was a very heavy Dutch influence. Anyway, this is Neshanic ( Dutch Reformed ) Church and it has been ver well maintained over the years. The way I have painted it depicts our present time, FYI. IMG_4003.jpeg

I am playing the trumpet, too. I just wanted to make that clear, in case anyone was wondering. But here is a new one inspired by a photo from a friend in Spring City, Tennessee. This is the Piney River. I am happy with this result.IMG_3489.jpeg

I painted this in response to the way the sky looks on a crisp winter night just at the tail end of sunset. This is my own backyard view in central NJ. Early morning isn’t bad either!

This is a departure from my usual subject matter, but just the same, I love this subject. I shied away from this because I didn’t want to fall on my face. This is a result of much planning and plotting. 5 or more reference scenes, and completely made up background setting. I took longer to do this than usual but I think I am happy I did. Early on I was not planning to show this to anyone, but saw some potential and thought you’d like to see it.IMG_4467.jpeg
