That was really nice of you, Wayne.

The pleasure was mutual, George. To see how interested and inquisitive they were, plus the fact that they were very respectful at all times made it a true win-win

today I have a piece from Ketchikan Alaska where there was this scene and we even saw some Salmon trying their best to swim up this very strong current. I love attempting to re create the raging white water, and sometimes I get it, and sometimes not so much!SalmonLadderRS.jpg

A scene not too far from my home. This is a small switch house originally from the Pennsylvania RR, but the "myth" that has spread about it is that it was the Bridge tender's house, I have since found out otherwise. The PRR bought the Delaware & Raritan Canal and essentially put it out of business in the early 1930s. At its peak, the D&R canal did more commerce than the Erie Canal.RSBlkwllspnt.jpg

I thought it was a stunningly beautiful photograph.

But another poster said that it is a painting?

Haha, nope, it’s a painting. I'll make sure to let you know when it’s a photo.
One thing that happens is people look at some of these paintings on a small screen like a phone and that makes it look much more like a photograph.

It is a fine work of art on a big or a small screen.

                      NICE!
An observer can tell its a painting of an Autumn scene from up north. It makes me long for the north and the seasons.
                      Keep up the great work!

I have been doing more small pieces of late and find them to be both challenging and enjoyable. This one is about 11"x14", a farm near my home in Hillsborough, NJ. It may well not be in this condition any longer but that is a big part of why I do like painting subjects like this.

I said I would post no more than one a day, but I think that is even a bit much, so here we are two days later. I'll show some of my paintings from photos taken by my son in law on his various travels with his family.RSBirch painting.jpg

                              Bigdub,

I just returned from a 3 week vacation in Oregon and California. My wife and I visited four different National Parks (Redwoods, Shasta Trinity, Yosemite, and Sequoia). We took a little over 1000 photos...if you’re interested, I could email some to you that you could use as reference photos for your painting. We have a lot of landscapes, waterfalls/rivers, wild animals, ocean shots, giant trees...etc...

Sounds great. Yeah, that would be something I would appreciate getting. Just send one or two at a time as I have very slow internet WiFi..haha. My email is, waynemathisen@yahoo.com.
Also, if you use the cloud, there would be a way to share he ones you want to see. I am not exactly sure how that works, but I have done it for my Alaska photos. Has to be Apple, though.

@BigDub Several years ago Yahoo! lost a number of months of my important e-mail. It took me about a year to transition to gmail, but I'm glad I did. My wife still suffers with Yahoo!, but her account is enormous, and she's been reluctant to change. She started the move to gmail recently; it's going to take awhile.

I lost years' worth of Hotmail "in box" because the software dumped the entire inbox into deleted,
then the software had no "restore entire folder" button.

The restore button would only appear as available for individual emails in the deleted folder,
which would have required clicking hundreds of times.

Hotmail support offered me no solutions when I emailed them.
