Wayne Shorter Will Be Missed

Wayne Shorter covered it all through many years and styles. He taught me so much as I remember transcribing so many of his solos for my trumpet lessons with Claudio. Here is an NPR tribute to him. He leaves us at age 89.

I think he would say, that living until age 89 has left him with no regrets. He had a hell of a ride during his life, but still, his greatness and talent will be surely missed.
I am 86 and I hope I make it to 89. I too will have no regrets, with one exception: I will leave the world wishing I had been an even better trumpet man than I was.
Rest in peace, Wayne.

A one-of-a-kind giant.
Regarding mortality, I was bemoaning something a good thirty years ago, I said to a friend, "Life isn't fair". She looked at me and said, "Kehaulani. If life was fair, you'd be dead by now. "
Life isn't fair. R.I.P Wayne. You've shown us the way.".
