My favorite is the University of Phoenix Stadium, which 1) is named for a for-profit college that doesn't have a football team and 2) is actually an NFL stadium.

RE: Thoughts about mouthpiece placement
I play slightly to the right because I have a cupid's bow lip. My high school band director tried to center me up and it didn't work. My second college trumpet professor, who was an orchestral principal trumpet player, tried to flatten out my chin and it didn't work. What has worked is keeping my mouthpiece where my natural aperture is (slightly to the right) and doing Balanced Embouchure (forgetting anything about the chin and letting the lips roll in and roll out naturally).

RE: Links open in a new tab?
I've just taken to right clicking and opening everything in a new tab on the oTHer site. It's a habit that has carried over to this board too.

Congrats! A beautiful baby for sure!

RE: Notre-Dame de Paris
One comment that I read was that a huge difficulty will be that trees are no longer available in that region that are as large as the ones originally used. Perhaps this will be a global restoration or alternative materials will be used.

RE: Easter Services
Good luck with all of your services! Playing great music at Easter and Christmas is one of the things I really miss now that I go to a contemporary church.

RE: Is a $280 New Bach Stradivarius Trumpet too good to be true?
As a band director, I would hate to have to burst some kid's bubble thinking they had scored a great horn. There's always a lot of excitement that comes with those purchases. However, I also know what the results will be down the road. Some of them do sound pretty good until they start needing repairs. For some reason, though, parents often refuse to consult their student's band director before making these sorts of purchases.

RE: Rock, Pop, Classic 70's "Horn Bands" from back in the day?
If you're looking for something newer that has some great soul with some horns, check out St. Paul and the Broken Bones.

Welcome Matt! I've enjoyed your point of view often on TH!
Mike
Thank you, Mike! I've literally grown up on TH -- I was just in high school when I started posting, through college, and now getting close to wrapping up my 13th year as a middle & high school band director. I hope I can make a positive contribution here as well!
Who were you on TH?
Same name on TH. I used uatrmpt on TM, but hardly posted there.

Clarke Technical Studies
Thanks for getting this off the ground. I just ordered the 1st Getchell book.
Getchell is also great for transposition work.

RE: Welcome to TrumpetBoards!
I finally took the plunge and joined up. It's going to take some getting used to, but so far so good. Looking forward to what is to come!
