RE: A little humour
This beats hands down any of those "no pressure" videos with trumpets hanging from strings - and you get to drink the beer at the end.
Prost!! -

I like to think things were generally a bit different in TM, and Trumpetboards.com is yet to experience its first (malevolent) trolling outburst.
(I know I'm trolling, but I'm well-intentioned, just check my emoticons )

RE: Thoughts about mouthpiece placement
@BigDub : not at all! Childish would be to also translate it to Fudd speak so everybody would understand what I meant:
"Doughts about moudpiece pwacement" -
RE: residue in valve ports
It probably has nothing to do with the kind of oil.
IMHO, it's the result of valve wear, surely more visible for new horns - the paper towel trick as mentioned by Dr GO is a must for the first few months (also inside the bottom caps). After that it depends on the horn, personal habits (e.g., valve block inclination), amount of playing, etc. but I would say there is no reason for alarm, but surely a reason for cleaning. -

Nice, different brass work, loved the movie (for people in Europe, it's available on Mubi)

RE: I Think ≠ It Is!
@Trumpetsplus : They have been on my Shew ever since I received them (txs Ivan for sending them to this side of the Atlantic with a very friendly postage fee). I fiddled a bit with the positioning, they now rest higher between the valves most of the time (= tighter fit). Sloting improved a lot, it's easier to lock the right notes in place.
They simply work. For me. Meaning = nothing wrong with the trumpet, it's me who needs the extra help, most probably going against the more loose/lighter characteristics of the Shew, that are there by design.

RE: Drill measures
@PortugaHorns: Just let me know if you get to commercializing them, I'm always looking to test new stuff, especially mouthpieces

RE: Drill measures
@PortugaHorns : Now I see it - and yes, Harrelson's 5MM makes more sense!

RE: Drill measures
Btw, Jason Harrelson seems to have different measures standards:

Drill number are sequential but Drill measures not.
I think drill measures (gauge) are sequential, but I'm not sure they are universal (trumpetplus should know at least for differences between Europe and US, he has been making trumpets and mouthpieces on both sides of the Atlantic). The 17 on the B2S3 seems to be the (quite large) standard on that model, and it should be 0.173 (= 4.394mm).

RE: Drill measures
I re-read your post on Facebook about the difference between Bach and Yamaha for the same drill and I believe it's a translation or nearest-number thing, as expressed in millimeters (I think it was for 27, between 3.658 and 3.66). I didn't look on different language version Yamaha sites, but it's possible there are differences.

RE: How about a "Random Meaningless Image...let's see them string"?
@SSmith1226 Txs! My hometown! That's an artillery tower built in the beginning of the XVI century to defend the entry of the city, crossing fire with another one on the other side of the river. It used to be further away from the shore - it was built to ressemble a ship.
