New to me Besson 700
-
Well I pulled the trigger and bought myself a nice cornet.
A Besson 700 (London)
Very nice, well looked after and essentially in new condition-one very minor ding.
Good price I think $500.
I am planning on starting up with the Sunnybank Brass Band when they recommence this year so I won't be embarrassed by my ol' faithful Chinese stencil -
@gloucestre Very nice!

Nice cornet. I’m a little surprised there’s no trigger on the 1st valve slide, though. Have you played it yet?
-
Hi, I have played it and it has a nice full sweet sound I will try to develop
In regard to triggers I have never really used them so will need to learn how to properly.
I think there are some models with two triggers and I had expected this to have two.
Really I have nothing to complain about I got this for what I think was a pretty good price.
Serial no is 723-711250 so if anyone can help with with particulars from that, I think is is mid 1980s date (?)Cheers

Well a trigger on the third slide really appeals to me. I always have trouble working the finger in the ring thing. I have a Selmer with a first slide trigger but hardly have the need to use it.

@georgeb It’s a reduced 923 Sovereign. More details here:

@terryc Thanks for that, an interesting article and the link to the serial number suggests a 1984 date range.
Mine has the backward pointing waterkeys like the "older" Sovereign models rather than standard ones described for the 723, I wonder if that is significant?
