Is this the World's Brightest Trumpet?

@Mike-Ansberry I agree with the LOUD side of the 40B. Mine is also a bright horn IMO. I cannot make it blend, it cuts through all - maybe I am confusing the Volume with Bright... It is a great soloist horn IMO.

That’s pretty bright!
I have an early 1960s Olds Studio (the older—better—model with the spun nickel bell) that is a lot of fun to play and can get insanely bright with a normal mouthpiece. Put something like a Curry 5-Star in it, and it becomes a weapon. -
Hi ACB,
A person should take into consideration "who" is playing the horns.
You're so steeped in all things trumpet, you wake with valve oil coursing through your veins instead of blood!
If you say "yep, possibly the brightest" then in my books it is.
On a side note, your cds, Trumpet 102 & Two-Toned by Trent Austin are wonderful. A lot of learning can be had from these cds. Thank you!
On another side note, such pretty red hair on the cds! You're a ginger like me!
Or as Dr-Go might say on the intercom at a grocery store; "Spill on chromosome 16, we need a clean up on chromosome 16 -
Some trumpets, however, are always going to sound "bright" according to their nature, regardless of the player. For example -- I had a H.N. White king Liberty in high school. That thing was a peashooter for sure, and my band director was of the "dark, round sound" persuasion, so he would never let me play it.
