      Hi GeorgeB,
Hands down, Dr-GO is absolutely the smarter of the two.
As for our musical knowledge? We have a sunk cost in time and equipment and just too old and stubborn to stop.

Not so sure Dr. Mark... Your note wheel of harmonics is ingenious and amazing.

I still discretely get it out to "dial in" the key of a tune prior to playing some improve solos to find the base notes in triads to solo around for the particular mode I want to try. You should patent that wheel (don't change the materials... love it that you did this on beer coasters) and sell it at Disney (or some high volume site). BTW... will be at Orlando's Disney World in mid-September and will be looking for it at some of the music stores in Disney Springs! Yes!

        Oh snap!
That's right. Man I'm glad you found it useful. You're one of only 3 people that have one. I checked with Disney and they wouldn't sell it unless it has Micky ears.

OK, use your main wheal than add the remaining circle of fifths from Coltrane's "Giant Steps" and BINGO you have Micky!

              Hi Dr-GO,
Hey! That would work because the augmented triangle is located on the square that's held by the pin.

                Hi Dr-GO,
My guess is that many (if not all) the people that read what we're talking about, have no idea what the wheel is. Please feel free to take a picture and post it. I would but lack the skill in computers.
As for patents, and copyrights, I've had a copyrighted book ripped off and spread all over the Internet which allows for free copying or downloading and a patent (external mute) mugged from me by a foreign country (without naming names, we're presently in a tariff war with this country).
The downside to patents is that if someone or some country is infringing on (for example) your patent, you just can't call a cop or the State Dept.. You have to hire your own lawyer (patent lawyers rarely if ever work on a contingency basis) and go after them on your dime. In addition, if its a country that pooched your patent, all the lawyers on Wall St. can't do diddly and you are left with no results and a gash out of your wallet that looks like a great white just took a bite. The only winner in this type of setting is the lawyer. At this point in life, and knowing what I know about patent law, I'd rather just share and spread the love.

Here it is. Please note the base of notes is on a circle and the functional relation is a separate square that sits on top of the circle held in position by a peg, to allow the square to be dialed to the key one is wanting to play a function against:
