Jerry Lewis plays trumpet ?

Well, apparently so, though the quality of his play is questionable, but he does get to play with Harry James in this video from The Jerry Lewis TV Show on December 10, 1958. Pretty funny when Jerry challenges Harry on directing bands. Nice to see and hear, Harry having fun...

If I remember right, Josh Landress had a trumpet that was given to Jerry Lewis by Dizzy.
-
In the video, Lewis produces and shows Harry a "Dizzy " style trumpet so that story is very likely true.
-
At any rate it is clear Jerry Lewis has some ability. If he wasn’t trying to be so goofy he could probably produce a fairly decent sound.
-
Yeah, at times there it looked like he was keeping up with Harry.
-
Here is another example:
-
Perhaps in a serious mood, playing some soft ballad, he just may be a decent player.

Pretty sure that’s not happening. He is no longer with us

Yeah, I should have said " may have been ".
