I was a long-time member of TrumpetMaster but due to covid and other issues have mostly had to give up routine playing other than to annoy my wife. I have a number of Olds models and enjoy throwing my somewhat biased opinion into the fray on these from time to time.

@Lotsahorns
I started with my first Olds horn in 1955 - just when they were moving from LA to Fullerton. I have known and interacted with several previous Olds employees including Zig Kanstul himself. I own many different models of Olds (and other) horns and was a regular commenter related to Olds on the Trumpetmaster site for a number of years until they shut down. I enjoy playing for fun but my chops are starting to go so gigs are in the past now.

RE: Repair Shop Special - parts for sale
I think $200 + shipping would be adequate. BTW, on reviewing the items, I found that a couple of the trumpets still have lacquer on them - just for clarification.

Repair Shop Special - parts for sale
For several years our band also conducted a brass repair workshop. I have a number of items left over from that workshop that may be of use to a repair shop. As noted in the photos, these items include, from right to left in the photo, (all are stripped of any lacquer)
Olds Ambassador #575536 - This is a complete, assembled unit with matching numbers. It has no visible damage and could be put back into playing condition.
Olds Ambassador #359057 - Complete with matching numbers, needs some braces resoldered and other minor work.
Olds Ambassador #468195 - Mostly complete - some damage (lead pipe), missing some small parts such as valve caps. Needs reassembly
Olds Ambassador #973262 - body and slides (no valves)
Olds Ambassador #454718 - valve body and sljdes, with valves but no small parts.
2 ea Olds Ambassador bells - reasonably straight and dent-free
1 ea Bundy (Bach) bell - shows signs of rework
Various leadpipes:
6 have tags which show the size
8 have no tags (one appears to be from an Ambassador - there is also a receiver (not shown) which is cracked but repairable.I am open to suggestions about how these could be of use to someone and what they are worth.
I suppose they could be used for repairs or to make a "frankenhorn" by combining with other parts.

Olds Standard (LA - 1947) For Sale
Hello Fellow Trumpet Aficionados;
As I mention in my intro when I recently joined, I have been playing Olds trumpets for over 60 years and own a number of different models. I previously wrote a lot about these models when I was on TrumpetMaster. I am no longer able to play as actively as I would like and it is time to start reducing the herd a bit. I am offering one here (not on ebay so I can keep the cost down). It is a very nice 1947 Olds Standard which is one of their original professional models for which they were well-known. This unit has most of the original lacquer which has taken on a dark patina. It is fully functional with good valves and slides. It has the usual worn areas but no damage. There are a couple of small dings on the bell pipe, easily repaired if you are inclined. I have an old Olds case but do not think it is original to this horn.I am asking $1100 but am willing to discuss if you have any questions. You can email me directly at akwidd@mail.com.

RE: Amati-Kraslice - the ones we love to hate?
I just joined so am still trying to figure out the "rhythm" of this site.
I have one - it has "ATR213 Czech Republic" on the receiver, a stylized "ak" logo on the bell and s/n 227190 vertical on the bottom of the 2nd valve casing.
It appears to have had little use. The lacquer is perfect and no dents, dings or scratches. The valves seal well and have quick response. It appears well-built and is actually a good player. Would this be considered a student model or something above that? -
