RE: Is a $280 New Bach Stradivarius Trumpet too good to be true?
Only read the title: YES.

Additionally, if that stops working, you can find most of the threads on web.archive.org

RE: New Toy (not a trumpet)
A V8 in a Miata sort of defeats the very purpose of a Miata...they're not supposed to have tons of power.

RE: Have you ever heard an Augmented Trumpet? Here's your chance (check out the video) :(
Sounds fine to me. Just like a bagpipe should.

RE: Replies not showing up without clicking on "replies"
Yes, that makes sense. Maybe upload a screenshot of exactly what bothers you? I imagine it would not be too hard to change. Does everyone else concur with your thoughts?

A Mom goes into a toy shop to pick a doll for her daughter. Sees two identical looking Barbies, one at $ 15 and one at $ 299. She asks the salesperson, "Why?" - "well, Ma'am, the cheap one is "single Barbie" and the other is "divorced Barbie"." - "Ah-hem?" - ""Divorced Barbie" comes with Ken's house, Ken's automobile and Ken's boat."
Divorced Barbie? Or better yet -- The Merry Widow!

Funny story that's sort of trumpet related...
I started a new software development gig, and my manager is Jason Harrelson. Not the trumpet maker, however. I asked him if he ever got confused with the other guy and he says "occasionally." Pretty funny!

@L-A-Horn Well, I guess you could try one of those new Chinese horns in the marketplace, but I wouldn't expect much for $350. If that is all I had to spend I would try to find something in a used Olds.
Just to clarify, Taiwan is not China.
Now that's a can of worms!

RE: How about a forum for Curio and Relic horns?
Don't we have something like this already?

I sat next to John Williams in a trumpet section years ago. No, not that John Williams…lol
Oh, the guitarist? He's excellent. Didn't know that he also played trumpet.

RE: File size too large
I'm allowing file uploads up to 10Mb. However, if your photo is more than 5000 pixels in either dimension it will automatically be rejected. I can up that here.

Nice! I expect that it goes best with my favorite road sign:
Which model is it?2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport (not Quadrofoglio, next step down)

RE: New Player has entered the Game
Correct. If not in the USA, some of our international members may be of help. Here are some recommended stores:
Austin Custom Brass

The Trumpet Trader
Horn Trader
Quinn The Eskimo

Unfortunately, Dr. Mark was just too aggressive. I wonder if he comes around from time to time...I don't believe his IP was banned, just his account.

Sorry. I used to love cars. Now I hate cars. They are a necessary evil, but I just want ones that start and run reliably and drive comfortably.
Might as well make the necessary evil as enjoyable as possible.

RE: Third valve
@Curlydoc said in Third valve:
Why do low D and DB seem to require extension of the third valve slide to be in tune while other notes requiring the third valve do not? Could a trumpet be made so that the third valve slide is unnecessary?
It has to do with the combined length of the 1st & 3rd valves. Trumpet design is always a compromise. If it were not, our trumpets would have 12 valves instead of 3. The slide allows for adjustments to tuning on certain pitches.
