@Mike-Ansberry I agree with the LOUD side of the 40B. Mine is also a bright horn IMO. I cannot make it blend, it cuts through all - maybe I am confusing the Volume with Bright... It is a great soloist horn IMO.

RE: Blues Band with Horns
@Dr-GO It sounds cool.
The whole Vid is very professionally shot. That would be a fun band to have your input. Give us some more links when you have your sound mixed in.Not sure about the Blues Brothers look... maybe a unique look would help identify the group. It is strictly Vocals lead? Some instrumentals to show off the band individuals would be fun as well.
Keep us in the loop

RE: Bugles Across America
I am a member - decided to join when MH370 went down off the WA coast, and thought there may be a need for a Bugler. Bought a Getzen Field Bugle. I have never been called upon, but have introduced an American friend from New York City who has emigrated here.
I play regularly for ANZAC Day on the British Bugle.
Still enjoy the BAA Newsletters, and always ready - if needed. -

@barliman2001 I'm exhausted - and that's from just reading your report. Stamina award to you!!

Once, in Scotland, I went from men's shop to men's shop looking for some suspenders. I was met only with quizzical and cautious looks. Finally, I was pointed to a women's lingerie shop, where I found out that suspenders in English meant garter belt in American! I guess they must've thought that I left my goat back at the hotel.
Americans just get it so wrong, but also so right

RE: Easter Services
I will be playing with an ensemble at Uniting Church Bacchus Marsh Vic.
We will have one rehearsal (this coming Tuesday) and will get the book then, So pretty much a sight reading job.
Happy Easter to all. -
RE: Is this the World's Brightest Trumpet?
@BigDub Yes, the Conn Vocabell 40B - a peashooter that plays like a Light Sabre.
-
RE: Is this the World's Brightest Trumpet?
The brightest I have, and played is the Conn Vocabell as per TobyLou. It is the brightest in my stable with any Lead mpce. I have not tried the Buescher, so I do bow to Trent...
This is my actual horn - still got it. Ozwinds couldn't move it! Museum grade restoration. Magic Horn

HONEY ROUHANI
ROBERT BARBAROWhat a wonderful night; fantastic international singers, and the Town Hall was jumping. Had a ball. We only do about 4 rehearsals with this Orchestra. It does not rehearse weekly...so our next performance is September, so will probably start rehearsals again in late July/August.
Tomorrow,..ahh that's now today, I will be playing with a Jazz Combo group at a Lions Market day. Only 3 hours, 10 to 1pm. Then a photoshoot. Another late day.

RE: How many measures on a tank of air?
@Doodlin I still mark my parts with BREATH Marks - especially where some phrases are not going to allow a breath... a BB is an indicator of a Big Breath.. to carry me through. Also I mark with the Comma where a section needs to breath together for rhythmic reasons, and entry reasons. DON'T forget a pencil at any rehearsal, and Mark your parts in pencil. More markings mean less stress,

RE: An exercise in futility?
@stumac If you cannot make it work, then no one can. They are so hard to play when they are a good horn, so I would try to recover my cost, by melting it down or breaking it up, and using as Fishing Sinkers. You can recover $100 of fish at market prices fairly easily, then write it off.

It's good to see you over here now, Peter. We still recognize you... and your "weight" loss. Your hints helped, though.
We're a smart bunch of fellers here
And girls, too. Sorry about that slip.
I thought I was the only one that made and wore slips!!

RE: Long Time Coming - but Album finally done!
Hi TJ,
Yes, we do a gig on the first Sunday of the month at the Lions Market at Cherry Lake from 10am to 1-00pm. We run a Cultural Series, and have a Council Grant to support the gigs. It has been a 12 month commitment to build the relationship. But it has been a lot of fun. Let me know if you want to come down and have a blow - you're very welcome. We have done a few gigs, and have been experimenting with an added Vocalist for a few tunes. Martin Case who runs the band, is well worth meeting.
Cheers -
Long Time Coming - but Album finally done!
I have been a little pre-occupied over the past 12 months. Visionary-Steel is a band here in Melbourne, formed a little over 12 months ago. It have been a learning curve for me, and an enjoyable ride.
We finally got our First Album fully Mastered, and it is certainly a different level of Jazz than I would usually be involved in developing. Very little high work, but lots of different Brass used. Had a ball getting this done.
Check it out. There are USBs out with the Album, and links to info, gigs etc.

RE: Great Idea!
I am here, but changed Names.
I figure a better coat for the new site. Maybe no-one will recognize me... I've lost weight.
Stumac tipped me off to TrumpetBoards. I'd lost interest in most sites, time poor and playing in too many bands, as well as some regular work hours interrupting my old routine. Good luck, so far it looks a winner. -
RE: TrumpetMaster Format
TrumpetMaster? What's that? I can't find it anywhere...
Thanks for moving on, a timely move, and having only just joined it, I feel comfortable to move around and find the Golden Nuggets of info here.
Thanks again -
RE: Martin Committee Club
Had one, liked it but not a love affair. It moved on!! So not a Club Member, and not wanting to join again. Rather have some other horns.
