@trickg My Citizen broke and the jeweler said, "Oh well... "! It was a chrono from the late 80's. I will see if I can find it and take a pic. It's a beautiful watch. I also have some old Soviet era pieces from after perestroika!

VERY nice! One day I'd like to own something nicer like that - Rolex or Omega would be my first choice, and likely a Sub or Seamaster, but I also really like the Omega Speedmaster Professional.

Luminox Navy Seals from Christmas of 1999! This has been my daily wear with rare exceptions ever since!

This thread put me on a search of my safe and this is what I found, my old Seiko from last century! As I remember, it has a motion powered generator on board that provides battery power. After a lot of shaking, It was back in service again. I guess I'm gonna put my Luminox on vacation for a while and start wearing this again.

@trickg's observations are correct regarding the Citizens. After I drove a Seiko World Timer into the ground, I bought one of these:
Worked well until I drove it into the ground (I'm very hard on watches). I didn't even consider getting it fixed up. Just tossed it in the trash.
I broke the titanium band on the Citizen I previously bragged about. A replacement band cost nearly as much as the original watch. I kept the spare parts just in case it breaks again.
Considering how hard I am on watches, I'd never consider an investment-level model like a Rolex. I don't deserve one

@Shifty You need this: It's pricey at $4300, but it's hard to destroy!! Here's the link! https://www.gshock.com/watches/mr-g/mrg2000rj-2a

Here's my perpetual wear watch. I take it off occasionally to clean it. When I got it, it had been in the box for I don't know how long. I deliberately opened it in a completely dark room to see how well the luminous dial worked after not having been exposed to light for a while. It was bright! It has lost some of its luminosity now. Among other features, I like the exhibition back.
I've been having problems uploading images, so here are the Imgur links:

@J-Jericho I remember those! Great watches and the exhibition back pushes it up another level!

I wear an old Bulova Aerojet self-winding watch.

mine. I like the Longines watches for being thin.

Thin and automatic don't often go together.

I bought an expensive Tag Heur years ago. Loved it and very accurate but every few years it required a new battery. This could only be done properly at an ‘approved’ agent. Each time the battery was changed it had to be re-sealed to remain waterproof. This got dearer and dearer. In the end I sold it and bought a Seiko Divers for the same price as a Tag service.

My favorite watch has H3 Tritium markings. Radio active technology from the military. An old Military compass I have that was made about 50 years ago still has a very slight glow to it as it used the same radio active substance in a paint on form. Only now Tritium in small capsules make watch making safe to the maker..... so they think. Might glow for 25 years on the watch face and hands the advertisements claim. If it doesn't last that long, I'll never likely know since I'm already a senior citizen.
