So, how's your Fourth?

I actually didn’t have a gig this year, and it’s a good thing because I was sick with the flu all week! I stayed home and comforted the critters - multiple fireworks shows close by made them unhappy.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
We had to hug our Schnauzer a lot as well with all the fireworks going off in the neighborhood. So I can understand, and when being ill, it probably takes even more out of you. Hang in there!!! Drink a lot of fluids, DO NOT take aspirin!

BTW I don’t miss any of the 4th gigs with the Navy - so much work for so little reward. I’m also not fond of fireworks, so the celebrations are kind of wasted on me.
Thar's too bad. At my last A.F, assignment, we had guest artists. paratrooper drops and, yes folks, two real Howitzer canons from a local Army base for the Overture of 1812. All in a sports stadium. I would do anything to be doing it again.
flugerlgirl. I hope you get better. soon. The Flu sucks!

I play in a quintet. The other four members play in a wind ensemble in the mountains west of us.. the conductor wanted to have a doubt brass quintet for a big 4th event that included multiple groups. OK. I drove 60 minutes to play 20 minutes of sight reading pieces (although i rehearsed them in my studio). Tempos were rushed. Everyone wanted to leave - big crowd but late -- hour drive home. Good Faith and support. Otherwise -- meh.
