Trio Nausica - Pictures at an Exhibition
-
Hi, everybody.
My trio, Trio Nausicaa , had booked three concerts in Munich, Germany in January 22-23 and February 13. Sadly, they will probably cancelled next week. Anyway, there would be only about 25-30 people allowed in the audience. Weird times.
If cancelled, that will be the third time in a row. The intended premiere was in spring 2020! In these years we have to change the pianist two times.
Anyway, here is a long teaser video (12 min) with some early rehearsal footage (sadly there was a problem with both the room and the camera, and better audio with some decent reverb couln't be added at this moment):
Music by Donald Yu, Eric Ewazen and Modest Mussorgsky.
(That's a Bach 180 229GH 25H with a 1 1/2 C 26/24)

Very nice. That take a lot of guts; pretty exposed. Who did the scoring? Expertly done.

Thanks. It's my own arrangement.

Excellent.
For you to put that comment in perspective, I was instructor of Advanced Orchestration at Univ. of N. Texas, Composer/Arranger USAF Band, D.C., etc. So, again, nice job. I understand all the hard choices you had to make.Do you have any other videos posted, perhaps under another name? I looked on YouTube and only found this one video.
Außerdem sehe ich, dass Dein YouTube-Video auf Deutsch ist. Lebst du in Deutschland? Ich habe einige Jahre in Deutschland in der Reinland-Pfalz gelebt. Meine Frau und Familie sind Deutsche.

Thank you, I appreciate.
Not showed in the video is Mussorgsky Prelude to the opera Khovanshchina (Rehearsal or concert video can come in the next weeks). From Pictures, Nr 7 "Limoges" is on Eb trumpet, probably the most difficult to play.
I'm working now on the Peer Gynt Suites, Prince Igor Ouverture, Ravel's quartett and composing new original music for the ensemble. That will include again viola and Flugelhorn/Eb/picc and cornet colours.
I'm lucky that the violinist can play also viola and change instrument between movements, it makes more range.Yes I live in Germany since 2005. My wife is german too.
The youtube channel is new, only for the trio. I have another one that is mixed with different stuff, earlier trio teaser included. I'm concentrating effort now on the trio and I am not doing solo recitals for a while (I have also a "parental leave" for the next 18 months, so I'll be only teaching until 2023/24). The pandemic made also very difficult to work promoting the ensemble for new concert venues.
Here some Brahms and Ewazen (we repeat Ewazen Trio, because is just wonderful)

Boy, arranging music from a variety of original scorings is just great. Let us know when you post another video. I'd love to hear it/them.
