Ages ago I had a GT6 that looked very much like this one, only without the butchered roof and the stock muffler. I lowered it an inch, which made it corner quite well, to put it mildly, and with 3 SUs and a header, it was a madman when you used the go pedal. I sold it on the one and only day I didn't have to fix something on it:

My first sports car was a 1967 Datsun 1600 Roadster, bought used in 1974. It was a problem car and I eventually sold it a few years later, needing a transmission rebuild.

My second convertible (I won’t call it a sports car…lol) was a 1970 VW Cabriolet bought used in 1980. Fun car, had wooden bows in the top and a wood frame around the glass rear window. I kept it about 6 years and sold it for a profit.

@dale-proctor How many warped/cracked cylinder heads did you have to replace on your Datsun?

I had to replace the entire engine - there was a crack in the block. Before that, I replaced the coil, alternator, and the water pump. New rear leaf springs, shocks, brakes, etc. followed. Then a new rear axle and differential gears. When a couple teeth broke off 2nd gear, I parked it and waited till spring, put the top down and put a For Sale sign on it, and a guy bought it and towed it off…

This picture looks very much like my wife's first car. Her brother was head mechanic at a local Ford dealership. This car came in on trade in 1974. He called her and told her to buy it asap. Traded in by two little old ladies who took very good care of it. It was beautiful. Had a paint job that looked like a still lake. Factory air. We drove it as our main car until 1984. Since then it has been my backup/project car. My son and I rebuilt the 289 motor 17 years ago. I currently have the seats out and intend to rebuild them this winter.

I’ve owned it for around 35 years now. Only 78000 miles and average mileage a year now is 150 miles or less. Never comes out the garage if raining, going to rain or has rained recently.

Saw this one on one of my walks in my neighborhood a couple of weeks ago and regretted not taking a picture of it. Fortunately the owner was visiting the same house again, and I said to myself, not this time! 64 Pontiac Bonneville. Look closely, the keys were in the ignition!
